Life On The Farm- Part 2

We are all settling in nicely at our temporary home. It is beginning to feel more comfortable now that Brian has foiled the suicidal cardinal. He hung a bright colored flag in front of the
window and we haven't seen him since. The colors are now attracting every bee in the area though.
We also have the most insane FROGS! They croak so loud that you would swear it was the size of a bunny. But, alas, they are regular size froggies REALLY looking to get lucky apparently.
It's funny the subtle differences you tend to notice. There are some roads that you would travel and not know the difference from LI (except for the towering pines and voluminous willow trees all over the place). The bumper stickers are different. Instead of a BUSH-CHENEY bumper sticker, the cars and trucks are adorned with extraordinarily deep and meaningful thoughts
such as the "I Love Jugs" sticker I saw this morning.
I have also noticed that everyone has teeth and I have yet to hear a real hick twang.
In our travels, Brian and I gazed at a sprawling ranch way high on a mountain top and wondered who would be wealthy enough to land such a home with million dollar views. Our adventurous
natures pushed us to explore the area and try to find it. We did find it alright and were distressed to discover it was Mount McGregor Correctional Facility! What was priceless was the look on the faces of all of the orange clad greeters as we drove in and quickly made a U turn, while I, all the while was smiling and waving at them. I should have taken off my shirt and flashed them....I think they would remember me more fondly.
Merlin is quickly becoming a farm dog. He walked off leash so nicely today. We walked past all the corrals, horses, barns and other dogs and he kept close by. Mommy is so proud of the Merlin Dog.
Remember to keep our troops past and present in the forefront of your thinking today. Say a prayer for them and for those upset by the earthquake in Indonesia. Brian and I wish
all of you well and hope all is beautiful in your world.
love,
gabrielle
